Redmi Note 15 Pro+ Launch: 7,000mAh Battery, 90W Charging, Durability Tests Revealed

What's the story

Xiaomi will officially present the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ in China later this week after confirming numerous critical specifications. The formal event is scheduled for August 21 at 7:00 PM China Standard Time, during which the Redmi Note 15 Pro will also be revealed.

The smartphone will be equipped with a 7,000 mAh power pack, arguably the largest to date within the Redmi Note series. It will feature 90 W wired fast charging and 22.5 W wired reverse charging. Xiaomi asserts the battery is designed to withstand 1,600 full charge cycles, a figure that, if verified, would position the device favourably in terms of longevity relative to many competing models.

The display measures 6.83 inches with a micro-curved design and 1.5K resolution. Xiaomi says the panel reaches a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, while typical brightness will hover around 1,800 nits. Protection comes from the company’s Dragon Crystal Glass, and the back panel is finished with a fiberglass coating.

Durability has been a major point in the company’s teasers. Redmi said the Note 15 Pro+ passed over 50 drop tests onto granite from two meters. The device is rated IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K, offering protection against dust, water, and high temperatures. It is also being promoted as the first phone to achieve a five-star waterproof quality certification.

Promotional images have shown the phone in a green finish with a squircle-shaped rear camera module. The camera system is rumored to include a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, while the device itself is expected to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset. Reports suggest it could ship with up to 16GB of RAM and Android 15.

The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will succeed last year’s Note 14 Pro+ and, if the specifications hold up in real-world use, could push the line into a more premium territory. Whether the mix of high-capacity battery, durability ratings, and performance features is enough to set it apart in a crowded mid-range market remains to be seen.
