Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 74 runs in 3rd T20I in Mirpur

What's the story

Pakistan put on a dominant all-round display to crush Bangladesh by 74 runs in the final T20I of the tour. They first set a challenging target of 178 for 7 in Dhaka, and then their bowlers suffocated the chase from the start, wrapping things up with ease to cap off the tour on a high.

Sahibzada Farhan led the batting effort, replacing Fakhar Zaman and hitting 63 off just 41 balls. His innings featured five sixes and six fours, and set the tone early as Pakistan made the highest T20 total at the ground since 2021.

The right-hander attacked from the outset. He launched Mahedi Hasan for a six in the third ball of the match and followed it up with clean shots against Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed. Farhan reached his fifty in the seventh over, taking Mehidy Hasan for back-to-back sixes.

Saim Ayub supported him with a few aggressive strokes before falling to Nasum Ahmed. The 82-run opening partnership was broken in the eighth over.

Despite a brisk start, Pakistan’s middle order stumbled slightly. Mohammad Haris couldn’t capitalize on three dropped chances and managed only 5 off 14 balls. Hasan Nawaz, however, struck three sixes in a quick 33, while Mohammad Nawaz added 27 off 16.

Bangladesh, chasing 179, never got going. Left-arm quick Salman Mirza made an immediate impact on debut. His persistence led to the dismissal of Tanzid Hasan via a review, and he went on to knock over Jaker Ali and Mahedi Hasan with balls that cut through the stumps.

Bangladesh slipped to 34 for 6 by the end of the seventh over. Faheem Ashraf contributed with two early wickets, and Salman Agha bowled Shamim Hossain with a sharp delivery that spun in.

Only Mohammad Saifuddin offered some resistance. He stayed unbeaten on 35 from 34 balls, hitting two sixes toward the end to avoid a major collapse.

The hosts were eventually dismissed for 104. The lower order tried to push the total past 100, but wickets continued to fall. Abbas Afridi’s catch at long-on sealed the final wicket as Shoriful Islam fell to Salman Agha’s side.

Pakistan’s bowling, which had looked inconsistent earlier in the series, came together for a clinical performance. Mirza’s figures of 3 for 19 and Nawaz’s 2 for 4 kept the pressure on throughout.

With this win, Pakistan not only sealed the series but also found positives in the form of new contributors like Mirza and Farhan. For Bangladesh, the result marked a disappointing end to the series at home.
