Anne Burrell, Food Network star and host of Worst Cooks in America, has died.
Her death was confirmed in a release obtained by People magazine. According to the statement, Anne passed away on the morning of Tuesday, June 17, at her home in Brooklyn, New York.
In the family’s statement shared through People, she was described as “a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend.” It added, “Her smile lit up every room she entered. Anne’s light touched millions. Though she’s gone, her warmth and spirit live on.”
Anne was known for hosting Worst Cooks in America and helping beginners gain confidence.
In moments from the show, she was seen saying, “Wow that was really taxing wasn’t it? I just got to be confident,” and “Still not clean. Oh my god. Oh my god. This is like Groundhog Day over here.” Contestants often felt the pressure of her intense kitchen presence. One joked, ‘Chef Anne watching me like a hawk is just a bit much.’
She is survived by her husband Stuart Claxton, whom she married on October 16, 2021, and his son Javier. Her family also includes her mother Marlene, sister Jane, children Isabella, Amelia, and Nicholas, and brother Ben.
