Dismembered Body Found in Travel Bags Identified as Bus Assistant in Gazipur

What's the story

The man whose dismembered body was discovered in travel bags in Tongi now has a name: Oli Mia. He was just 36 years old, the son of Suruj Mia from Narsingdi, and worked as a bus assistant.

His family now faces the unimaginable, made even more horrific by the fact that police are still searching for his head.

The discovery was made around 10 a.m. Friday when residents noticed a foul smell coming from the bags, which had been left near a local food stall, Haji’s Biryani shop. When they unzipped the luggage, they found body parts wrapped in black polythene. Police were called shortly after.

The Tongi East police got to the scene and taped everything off right away. A little later, they revealed something truly awful: the victim had been dismembered before being put in those bags.

The head of the police station, a guy named Muhammad Faridul Islam, explained how they even figured out who it was. He said his team, including an officer named Babul Miah, worked with the PBI and used fingerprints to get an ID.

Locals expressed shock. The poor street lighting reported in the area also led some to believe the murder had taken place late at night, perhaps unseen.

How the killer disposed of the body has echoed ominously around the community. For one resident, who asked to remain nameless, “Its unbelievable someone could do this and walk on.”

The lack of an arrest has left the neighborhood consumed by one agonizing question: what was the motive? So far, the answer is buried in a mountain of evidence—security videos and phone records—that has yielded no clear suspect.

This information vacuum is precisely what haunts the community. They are sickened by the violence, but terrified by its apparent randomness, because a killer without a motive is a threat without a shape, and that is the most frightening monster of all.

The head may offer more answers, detectives said, but they are still looking for it.

Meanwhile, the neighborhood is high in the mood that the case is still open, for the time being.
