A young man from Bogura was fatally stabbed on Friday, after being lured out of his home by someone he knew.
Bidyut, the victim, had just returned from Friday prayers and was eating lunch when he got a call from a neighbor named Jony. He left in a hurry — food half-finished — and didn’t come back.
What happened next left his family in shock.
According to relatives, Bidyut was attacked near the Eidgah field in Katnar Para, behind a rickshaw garage. They say Roni, a former friend, showed up with a group and stabbed him multiple times. Then they fled.
Locals found Bidyut seriously injured and rushed him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Doctors declared him dead soon after.
Grief and anger
The family can barely speak through their grief.
“He left us empty, sir… My son had done nothing,” a family member said, voice shaking. “We want justice. Let this go all the way to the highest court.”
Neighbors echoed the call. Many gathered around the hospital late into the afternoon.
What police are saying
Police believe Bidyut and Roni had once been friends. Some old dispute may have led to Friday’s violence.
“There were a number of stab wounds,” the officer said. “It’s early — we’re still trying to piece things together. The investigation is still going.”
For now, police say they are working to find Roni.
“We’re doing everything we can to arrest him,” the officer added.
Roni already faces five cases at Sadar Police Station — including charges related to drugs and previous assaults.
A shaken community
The killing has left the area rattled.
Many residents say they’re worried about rising violence and wonder what it will take to stop attacks like this.
As for Bidyut’s family, there’s little left to say right now — except one thing. They want to see those responsible face justice.
